This tutorial demonstrates the process of transferring chemical inventory ownership, including selecting inventory records, assigning a new owner, and confirming the transfer.

You will learn how to navigate the Chemical Inventory section, select records for transfer, assign a new Principal Investigator as owner, and verify the successful completion of the ownership transfer.

1. Transferring chemical inventory ownership

Navigate to the Chemical Inventory section to access the list of chemicals.
Select the inventory rows to enable actions for transferring chemical records.
Review the Primary Owner field which shows Jamie as the current owner of the inventory record prior to the transfer.
Open the action menu to access inventory management options, including transferring the selected chemical record to a new owner.
Select the Transfer button to initiate the inventory ownership transfer process.
Select the radio options for Transfer and Principal Investigator.
Search and select the Principal Investigator to designate as the new owner of the chemical inventory.
Click the Comment field to add notes or explanations about the ownership transfer.
Click Submit to send the ownership transfer request for processing.
Review the confirmation message indicating that if the chemical container is damaged, the transfer should not be completed. If all details are verified and the container condition is acceptable, select Yes to confirm and proceed with the transfer.
Click Confirm to complete the transfer of chemical inventory ownership.
Review the confirmation message indicating that the inventory transfer request has been successfully submitted. The recipient is notified and will receive a follow-up email once the transfer request is accepted or declined.
Once the recipient accepts the transfer request, verify the inventory record appears under the new owner's name. Review the Chemical Inventory page to confirm the update, showing Nguyen as the current owner, while the previous owner is listed under Created By.
Check the creator information to confirm the original record creator is preserved.
