Placing and reviewing radioactive material orders

Administrators who review, place, receive, and document radioactive material orders.
Administrator permissions are required.
This article explains how administrators and laboratory personnel review submitted orders, receive shipments, complete receipt surveys, and record isotope‑specific assay information.
1. Admin placing and reviewing orders
Administrators and radiation safety officers review submitted orders by navigating to Data Manager and selecting Order. Once a principal investigator submits an order, the acting administrator receives an email notification and uses the order interface to review the request and confirm that the order has been placed with the vendor.
2. Receiving the order
When the shipment arrives, either the administrator or a laboratory member can mark the package as received. From the order interface, they select the receive package icon to open the receive package window and complete the required information.
- Receipt date
- Receiving individual
- Package for – The intended recipient.
- Code – Optional package code.
- Order – Select from incoming orders.
- Additional notes
- Deliver location – The storage location, which must align with the permit.
- DOT labels (optional)
DOT labels are configured under edit settings, waste, waste DOT labels.
- Attachment (optional)
- Package survey (optional but recommended)
3. Performing a receipt survey
A receipt survey can be performed directly from the package window by selecting New survey. The user then enters:
- Survey date
- Reading type
- Meter used
- Activity reading
Reading types are configured under edit settings, rad, radiation survey types. Administrators can add new types by entering a name and selecting add, and can set each type to active or inactive.
Survey instruments are configured under edit settings, rad, radiation instruments. Administrators select all asset types, choose the relevant types, and select add. Instruments can be removed using the red trash icon.
4. Recording isotope‑specific information
Below the survey history, each ordered isotope is listed. The receiver can:
- Record an assay date and time.
- Record assay readings for each isotope.
- Log additional surveys for individual isotopes if needed.
