Who is this article for?
General users and system administrators who dispose of radioactive material through the RAM disposal workflow.
No elevated permissions are required to initiate disposal; System Admins configure related settings.
This article explains how users dispose of radioactive material using the RAM disposal workflow, including activity allocation, waste container selection, and optional acknowledgment requirements.
1. RAM Action: Dispose
The dispose action begins the radioactive material disposal workflow. From the radioactive materials inventory, select the dispose icon to open the inventory disposal form.
The form displays:
- Isotope
- Code
- Compound
- Current activity
- Lot number
- Current quantity
From the inventory use detail section, the user:
- Enters the activity being disposed.
- Enters quantity (required for mass‑dependent isotopes).
- Sets the disposal date.
2. Waste container details
The form lists available waste containers. For each container, the user:
- Sets the percentage of the disposed activity going into that container.
- The system automatically calculates the activity amount based on the percentage.
- Enters total waste quantity, units, and a content description.
- Attaches files, if needed.
Users must allocate 100% of the activity to containers before submitting the log.
