Users and system admins who need to split existing radioactive material containers into smaller vials.

No elevated permissions are required to perform a subvial action unless restricted by site policy.

This article explains how users create subvials from an existing radioactive material container, including required fields and activity/quantity rules.

1. RAM Action: Subvial

Subvialing allows users to split one container into multiple smaller containers, distributing the total activity and quantity between them.

To begin, navigate to the radioactive inventory and select the flask subvial icon. The subvial window displays the original vial details:

• Isotope
• Code
• Manufacturer
• Product number
• Compound
• Activity
• Lot
• Current quantity

New vial fields include:

• Code
• Physical form
• Compound
• Extracted activity
• Extracted quantity
• Any additional added volume

Once submitted, a new line item is created. The total activity and quantity are split between the original vial and the new vial.

Note: The extracted activity and quantity cannot exceed the original amount.
