Who is this article for?

System Administrators who review, respond to, and process waste pickup requests submitted by PIs or lab staff.

Administrative access is required to manage pickup requests.

When a PI submits a waste pickup request, the RSO receives a notification. Requests are reviewed and processed from the Pickup Schedule in the Data Manager.

1. Access and review pickup requests

To view pickup requests: Click Data Manager, then click Waste, then select Pickup Schedule.

From the request list, the RSO can open any request and choose to respond.

1.1. Open the response window

Click Respond to the Request to open the Waste Pickup Response window.

1.2. Information displayed in the response window

• Requested pickup date
• Contact information
• PI comments
• Containers requested for pickup
• Requested supplies

1.3. Actions available to the RSO

• Enter an actual pickup date (if different from the requested date).
• Add comments back to the PI.
• Confirm or cancel the request.

1.4. Customise labels in the response window

These labels can be customised by clicking Edit Settings, then clicking Waste, then selecting:

• Desired Pickup Date Label
• Actual Pickup Date Label

2. Process waste pickup from the response window

From the same area, the RSO can click Process Waste Pickup to immediately begin the pickup workflow.

2.1. Actions available during processing

• Add additional containers
• Set container weights
• Remove containers
• View contents
• Combine contents
• Print labels
• Select the storage room
• Enter the location’s EPA ID
• Cancel or finalize the pickup

2.2. Configure storage rooms

Storage rooms are configured by clicking Edit Settings, then clicking RAD, then selecting Radiation Waste Storage Locations.

3. After the pickup is processed

• The container’s status changes to Storage.
• The container is removed from the PI’s active lab list.

3.1. Visibility of canceled or rejected requests

This is controlled by clicking Edit Settings, then clicking RAD, then selecting Show Canceled/Rejected Waste Pickup Requests?
