Understanding chemical inventory permission assignment levels and settings
Who is this article for?
Administrators who want to learn about permission sets.
Administration permissions are required.
The Chemical Management System (CMS) uses a flexible permission model that allows administrators to define exactly how users can view, add, and manage chemical inventory data, ensuring that each user's access matches their responsibilities whilst maintaining both data integrity and regulatory compliance.
1. Understanding permission assignment levels
Permissions can be assigned at two levels:
- Site Role – Applies across the entire site and overrides roster-level permissions (as long as the Site Role is not set to None)
- Roster Role – Applies only to inventories within the specific roster(s) where the user is assigned
2. Accessing permission settings
- To configure Site Role permissions, go to Edit Settings, then select Chemical Inventory, then choose Chemical Inventory Permission: Site Roles.
- To configure Roster Role permissions, go to Edit Settings, then select Chemical Inventory, then choose Chemical Inventory Permission: Roster Assignments.
