Conducting inspections
Who is this article for?
Users who need to conduct Inspections,.
Administrator role is required.
Inspectors perform inspections on Rooms, Assets, or Groups using the SafetyStratus platform, requiring the Inspector role and assigned permission to inspect objects.
1. Starting an inspection
To start an inspection, follow these steps:
- Click New Inspection from the left navigation menu.
- Search for the inspectable object.
- Use the checkboxes to filter by type.
- Click Confirm Selection to proceed to the Settings page.
2. Configuring inspection settings
To configure your inspection settings, complete the following:
- Set the Inspection Date to capture the inspection start date.
- Select the template to use from Inspection Type.
- Review the Department field, which automatically loads if preconfigured.
- Manage the Roster to display users responsible for corrective actions.
- Click Start Inspection to begin.
Managing the roster:
- Add users via Add User to Roster
- Assign default responsible users with checkboxes
- Click the envelope icon to notify users by email only
- Remove users with the red trash icon
3. Answering inspection questions
Questions appear based on template categories. Answer using radial, numeric, or text fields.
Available features:
- Category Dropdown: Navigate among question categories
- Search: Quickly find specific questions
- Save & Exit: Save progress to continue later
- Review: View answered questions at a glance
4. Managing corrective actions
Radial or numeric responses may generate corrective actions.
To manage corrective actions, follow these steps:
- Assign a responsible user.
- Set severity, which affects due date and email escalations.
- Adjust the due date if needed (default is based on severity).
- Add comments and attach images as required.
5. Adding supporting inspection data
You can add supporting information to your inspection using the following tabs:
- Files Tab: Attach supporting documents or files
- Follow-Up Tab: Self-assign follow-up actions to track completion
- Notes Tab: Add general inspection notes
6. Continuing a saved inspection
Saved inspections appear under Continue an Inspection.
To resume a saved inspection, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Continue an Inspection.
- Use the icons to resume or cancel the inspection.
7. Reviewing inspections
Some templates require reviewer approval before completion.
To review an inspection, follow these steps:
- Access the Review Tab from Continue an Inspection.
- Select one of the following actions.
Available reviewer actions:
- Approve Inspection: Completes the inspection and sends corrective actions
- Request to Change: Sends back to inspector for corrections
- Cancel Inspection: Stops inspection with no corrective actions sent
8. Completing an inspection
To complete an inspection, follow these steps:
- Click Complete Inspection to finalize.
- Review the generated inspection report.
- Verify that corrective actions have been sent.
Report options:
- View Full: Display complete inspection report
- View Simple: Display simplified report
- Export: Download the report
9. Accessing completed inspections
To access your completed inspections, follow these steps:
- Click Completed Inspections from the left menu.
- View your inspection reports.
- Click the green Send Email icon to forward reports.
