Configuring line item details
Who is this article for?
Administrators who need to add new isotopes as line items under an existing radiation license.
Administrator permissions are required.
This article explains how administrators add a new line item to a radiation license, including isotope details, limits, and physical form settings.
1. Line items (isotope)
Line items represent individual isotopes authorized under a license. Creating these entries allows permits and inventory records to reference specific isotopes and their regulatory limits.
See the following article to add a line item to a license.
When adding a new line item, the system will prompt you to enter the following information:
- License information – Select the parent license from the dropdown.
- Line number – Enter the regulatory line number assigned to the isotope.
- Radioisotope – Select the isotope from the system list.
If an isotope your organization requires is not available, contact your representative with the following details:
- Element name.
- Symbol.
- Atomic number.
- Isotope number.
- Half‑life in seconds.
- Possession limit – Enter the maximum quantity allowed for all permits referencing this isotope and select the appropriate unit (Ci or Bq).
- Physical form – Choose from any, sealed source, solid, liquid, or gas.
Administrators can manage the list of physical forms by navigating to edit settings, selecting rad, and opening ram physical forms.
- Compound name (optional) – Add this when the isotope is typically used as part of a compound.
2. Industry‑relevant examples
2.1. Academia
University radiation safety teams may add isotopes such as I‑125 for biology research.
2.2. Manufacturing
Quality groups may add Co‑60 sealed sources used in equipment calibration.
2.3. Industrial NDT
Contractors may configure Ir‑192 to match their radiography license.
